Kermit Driscoll

Kermit James Driscoll (born March 4, 1956 in Kearney / Nebraska ) is an American jazz bassist.

Driscoll started playing the piano at the age of five, later adding saxophone and bass. At the age of 16 he went on tour with a rock band. In 1974 he studied at the University of Miami with Jaco Pastorius , from 1975 at the Berklee College of Music .

In 1978 he went to Belgium, where he worked with Steve Houben and Bill Frisell and made his first recordings. In 1980 he became a member of Buddy Rich's band in New York , with whom he toured for five years from 1981. From 1986 to 1996 he was a member of Bill Frisell's band alongside Joey Baron and Hank Roberts . In addition, he was 1989 - 92 CoLeader the band New and Used with Dave Douglas and Andy Laster .

After Frisell's group broke up, he appeared in numerous Broadway shows and live sessions and worked with musicians such as John Zorn , Mick Rossi , Karl Latham , Gerry Hemingway ( Double Blues Crossing ), Ben Monder and John Hollenbeck . In 2011 Driscoll released his debut album Reveille .
