François Laizeau

François Laizeau (born November 19, 1955 in Paris ) is a French jazz and fusion musician ( drums ).

Live and act

Laizeau took lessons from Dante Agostini from 1973 to 1976 . He has been working as a professional musician since 1975. He first played with Yochk'o Seffer , Tania Maria and Claude Barthélémy . Between 1981 and 1984 he was involved in productions by Magma and in the early 1980s he was also a member of Zaka Percussion , with whom he also released two albums. He then performed with Toots Thielemans , Martial Solal , Eddy Louiss , Benoît Widemann , Michel Portal , François Jeanneau , Dominique Pifarély , Claus Stötter , George Gruntz , Emmanuel Bex and Mônica Passos . He was twice brought to the Orchester National de Jazz as a drummer for several years , both for the productions of Denis Badault and for those of Didier Levallet .

In recent years he has been a drummer in the quartet of Michel Legrand - Natalie Dessay with Pierre Boussaguet ; he also accompanied the singer Christel Assan. He continued to work with Jean-Marc Padovani . Together with François Méchali and François Couturier , he dealt with the work of Frederic Mompou in the Musica Callada project and played the music of Jaco Pastorius in Frédéric Monino's band Around Jaco .

In 1994 he was appointed professor for percussion at the regional conservatory in Aubervilliers .
