Pierre Boussaguet (born November 12, 1962 in Albi ) is a French jazz musician ( double bass , composition ).

Life

Pierre Boussaguet first learned the accordion, switched to the double bass under the impression of a concert by Ray Bryant . He received his training from the bassist Jean Cros. In 1982 he played in Gérard Badini's band with saxophonist Guy Lafitte and toured Europe in 1984 with bassist Ray Brown as the duo Two Bass Hits . He also played with Harry Sweets Edison , Clark Terry , Johnny Griffin , Jimmy Rowles , Monty Alexander , Joe Pass , Kenny Burrell , Barney Kessel . In 2002 he accompanied Diana Krall on her world tour. He regularly plays in Niels Lan Doky's trio and with his own quartet.

Boussaguet stands in the hard bop tradition of Pierre Michelot and Henri Texier , in his bass playing you can find bop elements as well as the swing and mainstream jazz tradition.
