from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dante Agostini (born April 1, 1921 in Mercatello sul Metauro ; † 1980 ) was a French drummer and drum teacher of Italian origin.

In 1965 he founded the drum school named after him in Paris, at that time still under the name école de batterie Dante Agostini - Kenny Clarke . There he developed a teaching method with the aim of teaching everything about playing the drums for every student, from beginners to professionals . The resulting textbook today (2008) comprises more than 25 booklets and three CDs . It is considered the best-selling drum textbook in the world.

Agostini has also developed a notation system with the aim that a percussion composition can be notated so precisely that it can be reproduced true to the original by every drummer (indication of the fingering , uniform symbols and uniform arrangement in the score ).

As a drummer, Agostini has worked with Frank Sinatra , Jerry Lewis , Luis Mariano , Jacques Hellian , Charles Trenet and Tino Rossi , among others .
