Philippe Petrucciani (born March 10, 1957 in Toulon ) is a French jazz musician ( guitar , composition ).

Petrucciani comes from a family of musicians; the guitarist Tony Petrucciani is his father, the pianist Michel Petrucciani was his youngest brother. His father trained him on the guitar at an early age - clockwise, although he is left-handed ; then, under the guidance of his father, he played jazz in a trio with his brothers Michel and Louis Petrucciani and listened to musicians such as Wes Montgomery , Bill Evans , Tal Farlow and Barney Kessel .

During a first trip to the USA in 1979 he met John Abercrombie and was given the opportunity to play in a duo with his brother Michel in Philadelphia; later both performed in a duo at the Olympia in Paris. In 1980 he founded his first own group with which he performed his compositions. He played in Andy McKee's band and worked with musicians such as Manhu Roche, Jean-Sébastien Simonoviez, André Villegier, Frédéric Monino , Marc Mazzillo and Jean Pierre Llabador. Then he toured Israel and Italy with his two brothers Louis and Michel. 1991 appeared with his brother Louis at MIDEM and recorded his first album, which was followed by other albums with his own bands. His composition Why was made famous by his brother Michel.

In the Trio Perfetto he plays with the pianist Mario Stantchev and the trombonist Francesco Castellani. He was married to the pianist and singer Nathalie Blanc, with whom he will appear again in different constellations. He can also be heard on Lucky Peterson's album Tribute to Jimmy Smith . He also teaches at the Institut Musical de Formation Professionnelle in Salon-de-Provence .
