Louis Petrucciani

Louis Petrucciani (born April 9, 1958 in Toulon ) is a French jazz musician ( double bass ).

Petrucciani comes from a family of musicians; Tony Petrucciani is his father and Michel Petrucciani is his brother. In 1967 he discovered the double bass. In addition to a solid classical education, he played jazz in a family trio (sometimes with his brother Philippe on guitar), and since 1980 with Bernard Lubat , André Jaume , Aldo Romano , Lee Konitz and Mike Zwerin . In 1982 he studied with Chuck Israels and Percy Heath in the USA .

Back in France, he worked for three years with Barre Phillips on the one hand, and with Bobby Few , Eliot Zigmund , Bob Malach , Sangoma Everett , Claude Nougaro , Alain Jean-Marie , Talib Kibwe , Christiane Legrand , Franck Avitabile and Philip Catherine on the other . He continued to play in a trio with his father Tony and brother Michel.

Five albums were released under his name; also recorded more than twenty albums as a companion, including five albums with his brother Michel (including a live album in Japan with Lenny White ).
