history

Church "To the joy of all mourners" (built in 1821) in Lossino-Petrowski

The place was created in 1708 with the establishment of a state-owned factory for the production of army uniforms made of elk leather by decree of Peter I. This gave the place its current name: Lossiny is derived from Los (" elk ") and Petrowski from "Peter".

In the middle of the 19th century, several textile factories sprang up around the manufactory. After its nationalization as a result of the change of power after the October Revolution in 1917, a workers' settlement was established in the area of today's city. This received city status in 1951.
