Staraja Kupawna ( Russian Ста́рая Купа́вна ) is a city with 21,811 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010) in the Noginsk district of Moscow Oblast , Russia . It is located 23 km from the eastern city limits of Moscow . The closest towns are Monino and Lossino-Petrowski .
history
The settlement of Kupavna was first mentioned in writing in 1353. In the 18th century, a brick factory and a watch factory, which was dissolved again in 1812, were built here. Since the 1930s, the former village became an urban-type settlement , in which mainly workers and employees of the nearby industrial companies founded at that time were settled.
In 2004 the settlement of Staraya Kupavna received city rights.

Economy and Infrastructure
In today's Staraja Kupawna there are around a dozen smaller industrial plants, including a textile factory and a chemical plant.
The M7 trunk road and the railway line from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod with a stopping point run near the city .
