The M9 ("Baltija") is a Russian trunk road. It leads from Moscow in a westerly direction via Velikiye Luki to the Latvian border and is part of European route 22 . At the time of the Soviet Union, it connected Moscow with Riga , the capital of the Latvian Soviet Republic .
