The A 216 is a Russian trunk road in the Kaliningrad Oblast . It branches off from the A 229 at Talpaki and heads northeast to Sovetsk . At the time of the Soviet Union it continued via Tauragė and Šiauliai in the Lithuanian SSR and Jelgava to Riga ( Latvian SSR ). The continuation of the A 216 in Lithuanian territory is now the A 12 , in Latvia the A 8 .

The German Reichsstraße 138 ran along the entire route of the A 216 until 1945 and is now the Europastraße 77 .
