Karen Koop (born May 15, 1944 in Meldorf ) is a German CDU politician and was a member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Karen Koop came to Hamburg at the age of eight and graduated from the monastery school in 1965 . From 1965 to 1969, she studied pedagogy , history and mathematics at the University of Hamburg . This was followed by a legal clerkship from 1969 to 1971. Since 1971 she is a secondary school teacher for elementary and secondary schools. She works for the Department of Education and Sports .

politics

In 1985 Koop became a CDU member in the Osdorf branch . From 1991 to 2003 she was state chairwoman of the women's union . From 1992 he was also a member of the regional executive committee of the CDU Hamburg.

She was a member of the Hamburg Parliament from October 6, 1993 to 2011. Since 2001 she has been deputy parliamentary group leader of the CDU.

She was also on the Social Committee, Science Committee and Family, Children and Youth Committee. As a further task she was in the study commission for school development. She was the specialist spokesperson for the CDU parliamentary group for youth, children and families as well as gender equality issues.
