history

Nelidowo was built around 1900 during the construction of the Moscow – Riga railway near the village of Iotkino (also Jotkino ), which has been known since 1701 . The place was named after the noble family Nelidow, who had been living in this area since the 15th century, over whose lands the railway line ran.

In 1949 the place received city rights.
