Viktor Iossifowitsch Gordijuk ( Russian Виктор Иосифович Гордиюк ; born April 11, 1970 in Odintsovo , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player .

Career

In 1986 Gordijuk began his career in what was then the Soviet Union with Krylya Sowetow Moscow , where he played in a series with Sergei Nemtschinow and Juri Chmyljow . In the following five years he established himself within the team and continuously increased his points yield from 4 to 23 points scorer. Gordijuk was selected in the seventh round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft in 142nd place by the Buffalo Sabers . After the collapse of the Soviet Union, all Russian players were able to move to western countries and Gordijuk went to North America for his draft franchise.

In North America

During the 1992/93 season he made his debut for the Sabers in the National Hockey League , but was mostly used with their farm team in the American Hockey League , the Rochester Americans . The season 1993/94 he spent without a single NHL game with the Americans in the AHL. In the following season he came on ten missions in the NHL and otherwise continued to play in the AHL. In the 1995/96 season Gordijuk went on the ice for two different teams in the International Hockey League : He started the season with the Los Angeles Ice Dogs , but moved to the Utah Grizzlies shortly before the end of the regular season . With this urge he made it to the playoff final and won the Turner Cup with the Grizzlies .

At the Düsseldorfer EG

After this success he returned to Europe and was signed by the reigning German champions, the Düsseldorfer EG from the German Ice Hockey League . With the DEG Gordijuk missed the playoffs in the 1996/97 season before relegation was secured in the first round of playdowns. In the following season the team reached the playoffs, but retired in the first round against Adler Mannheim with 0: 3. In the summer of 1998, DEG withdrew to the second division, the then Bundesliga , for financial reasons . Gordijuk stayed with Leo Stefan at DEG, while most of the previous players left the club.

In the following two years in the second division Gordijuk was able to improve his performance greatly and scored a total of 189 points scorer in 149 second division games. In 2000, DEG was promoted to the DEL again with the championship title of the 2nd Bundesliga . Gordijuk stayed with DEG for another season and took part in the 2000 DEL All-Star Game .

Back in Russia

In the summer of 2001 he returned to Russia and first played for Salawat Julajew Ufa in the super league before returning to his home club Krylya Sowetow Moscow after 18 games. For the Soviet Wings he played until shortly before the end of the main round in 2002/03 , before he was signed by HK Dynamo Moscow .

The 2003/04 season he spent at HK Spartak Moscow in the second division, the Wysschaja Liga, and scored 43 points scorer in 67 games this season. He then moved within the second division to HK MWD Tver , with whom he won the league championship in 2005. The HK MWD rose so in the super league, but Gordijuk received no new contract and returned again to his home club. This was in the meantime also relegated to the Wysschaja Liga.

A year later he left Krylya Sovetov and moved to another Moscow suburb - to Chimik Voskressensk . There he convinced with 60 scorer points in 54 season games, so that he received a contract with HK Lada Tolyatti from the Super League for the 2007/08 season . After nine games, however, his contract was dissolved and Gordijuk returned to Chimik. With Chimik he won the championship title of the Wysschaya League at the end of the season. Then Chimik was included in the newly founded Continental Hockey League in the summer of 2008 . Gordijuk completed 39 KHL games for Chimik before moving to SKA Saint Petersburg within the KHL shortly before the end of the main round in 2008/09 . For the SKA he went on the ice in 13 season and 3 playoff games before ending his playing career.
