The 1991/92 season of the Wysschaja Liga was the 46th and final season of the highest Soviet division. This season is sometimes referred to as the first and only season of the ice hockey championship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) ( Russian: Чемпионат СНГ по хоккею с шайбой ), since the Soviet Union was dissolved during the season and the game was continued by the Commonwealth of Independent States . HK Dynamo Moscow secured the championship title of the CIS .

Main round

mode

The 16 teams of the Wysschaja Liga initially played against each other in 30 season games. While the first eight teams qualified for the intermediate round, the playing time for the remaining eight teams was over. In the second round, the eight teams competed in two groups of four teams each. In the first and second leg, the two group winners each qualified for the play-offs, while the other four teams compete against each other in placement games. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
