The 1970/71 season of the Vysschaya League was the 25th season of the highest Soviet ice hockey division . The Soviet championship title was secured for the 16th time by CSKA Moscow , while Sibir Novosibirsk was relegated to the second division .

The team with the highest points became champions, while the bottom of the table was relegated directly to the second division.
