The 1975/76 season of the Vysschaya League was the 30th season of the highest Soviet ice hockey division . The Soviet championship title was secured for the fourth time by Spartak Moscow , while Sibir Novosibirsk was relegated to the second division.

The ten teams of the Vysschaya League played four times against each opponent in a common main round, making the total number of games per team 36. The team with the highest points became champions, while the bottom of the table was relegated directly to the second division. The penultimate of the Wysschaja Liga met in the relegation on the second of the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.

Relegation

As in the previous two years, SKA Leningrad had to play in the relegation, but was again able to confidently achieve relegation with two wins in two games.
