The 1946/47 season was the first season of the Class A as the highest Soviet ice hockey league . Dynamo Moscow secured the Soviet championship title for the first time .

mode

The twelve teams of class A were divided into three groups of four teams each. In the main round they each played a game against every other group opponent, so that the total number of games per team was three. The respective group winners then qualified for the final round, in which the Soviet champions were played out, with each team facing the other two teams in a round trip. The four teams with the best points in the main round after the group winners each played in one game against each other for fourth place. For the remaining teams, the season ended prematurely. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
