Viktor Ivanovich Schalimow ( Russian Виктор Иванович Шалимов ; born April 20, 1951 in Solnnogorsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Soviet - Russian ice hockey player and coach.

Career

His career began at HK Spartak Moscow in 1969/70 . In total, he scored 293 goals in 572 games in the Soviet league .

For the 1985/86 season he moved to Austria and played for the Innsbrucker EV and Salzburg EC . In Innsbruck he acted as a player-coach during the 1985/86 season.

International

On November 5, 1972 Shalimov was in a game against Finland for the first time for the Soviet national team on the ice. His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics . In 1975 he was inducted into the " Russian Hockey Hall of Fame ".

As a trainer

In the middle of the 1988/89 season he took over the coaching position at EC KAC from Roger Lamoureux after his dismissal.

From the 1993/94 season he was assistant coach at Spartak Moscow before he was promoted to head coach in February 1995. He held this position until October 1996, when he was replaced by Vyacheslav Anissin .

In the 1998/99 season he was Vice President of Spartak.

Since 2005 he has worked as an advisor to the Sport Department in Mytishchi , and is also the head of the Sport Department at the Moscow State Forest University . At the same time he is active as a player in the old men's team "HC Legends of USSR Hockey".
