Yuri Evgenjewitsch Lyapkin ( Russian Юрий Евгеньевич Ляпкин ; born January 21, 1945 in Balaschicha , Russian SFSR ) is a former Soviet - Russian ice hockey player who was active for many years in the highest Soviet ice hockey league , the Wysschaya League , and with the Soviet national team four times World champion and 1976 Olympic champion .

Career

During his career, the defender played for Spartak Moscow and Chimik Voskressensk . In total, he scored 126 goals in 324 games in the Soviet league .

International

On December 6, 1968, he was in a game against Canada for the first time for the Soviet national team on the ice. His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics . For the national team, he scored 18 goals in 128 international matches. On December 21, 1976 he played his last international match.

In 1973 he was named the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR .

After the active career

From 1992 to 1998 he was a trainer and consultant for Nagano Prefecture , looking after children, young people as well as men's and women's teams. Between 1999 and 2002, Krylya Sowetow was managing director in Moscow . Since his return to Russia he has lived in Balaschicha and plays for HC Legends , an old-man team. He also works as a trainer at the Olympijez children's and youth sports school .

At the end of January 2010, a banner with his jersey number 5 was hung under one of the arches of the Balashikha arena in honor of Lyapkin .
