Alexander Pavlovich Ragulin ( Russian Александр Павлович Рагулин ; born May 5, 1941 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ; † November 17, 2004 in Moscow, Russia ) was a Soviet ice hockey player .

Career

Ragulin played as a defender in the Soviet ice hockey league at Chimik Voskressensk (1957–1962) and at CSKA Moscow (1962–1973). Between 1960 and 1973 he was in the squad of the Soviet national ice hockey team . With her, he was the only ice hockey player in the world, ten times world champion and three times (1964, 1968 and 1972) Olympic champion, with the Olympic Winter Games and the Ice Hockey World Championship coinciding in 1964 and 1968. At the 1966 World Cup, Ragulin was named “Best Defender of the Tournament”. In total, he played 239 international matches in the Sbornaja jersey , in which he scored 29 goals.

He was awarded the Badge of Honor of the Soviet Union in 1965 and 1969.

After the end of his career he worked as a junior coach at CSKA Moscow and as head coach at SKA Novosibirsk .

In 1997 Ragulin was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) . He died in hospital on the night of November 18, 2004 . Burdenko . He was buried in Moscow in the Vagankovo ​​cemetery .
