Dmitri Nikolajewitsch Frolow ( Russian Дмитрий Николаевич Фролов ; born August 22, 1966 in Temirtau , Kazakh SSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player .
Career
Dmitri Frolov began his career as a hockey player at Dinamo Kharkiv , for whose professional team he was active from 1985 to 1987 in the Pervaya League , the second Soviet division. The defender then moved to Dinamo Riga , for which he was on the ice for two years in the Wysschaja Liga . There he was able to convince, whereupon he was signed by HK Dynamo Moscow , with whom he won the Soviet championship title in the 1989/90 and 1991/92 seasons . For the 1992/93 season he moved to SKA Saint Petersburg from the International Hockey League . For the 1993/94 season he joined the HC Devils Milano from the Italian A1 series , with which he immediately won the national championship title. After another year in Milan, he joined the EHC Lustenau from the Austrian ice hockey league in the 1995/96 season . For the following season the Russian was signed by the Wedemark Scorpions from the German Ice Hockey League . For this he scored two goals and 15 assists in a total of 55 games.
For the 1997/98 season Frolov returned to HK Dynamo Moscow, which was now taking part in the Russian Super League . He stayed there for a year as well as afterwards with the league rivals HK Awangard Omsk and HK ZSKA Moscow . In the 2001/02 season he ran for HK MGU Moscow in the Eastern European Hockey League . The former international played for Barys Astana in the 2004/05 season . With the team he took part in the game operations of the Kazakh ice hockey championship and the Pervaya League , which is now the third Russian division. He then ended his career at the age of 39.
International
For Russia , Frolov took part in the World Championships in 1993 , 1994 and 1995 . At the 1993 World Cup he won the gold medal with his team.
