Jan Bronislawowitsch Kaminski ( Russian Ян Брониславович Каминский ; born July 28, 1971 in Penza , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who played for the Winnipeg Jets and New York Islanders in the National Hockey League from 1987 to 1999 has played.
Career
Jan Kaminski began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with Diselist Penza , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Pervaya League , the second Soviet division, in the 1987/88 season . For the 1989/90 season , the winger moved to HK Dynamo Moscow from the Wysschaja Liga , with which he immediately won the Soviet championship . He was able to repeat this success with his team in the 1991/92 season . During the 1991/92 season he also came to an insert for Friborg-Gottéron in the Swiss National League A .
For the 1993/94 season , the Russian joined the Winnipeg Jets from the National Hockey League , which had selected him in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round as the 99th player. For Winnipeg himself, however, he only came to a single NHL assignment, while he played mostly for their farm team Moncton Hawks in the American Hockey League . In February 1994 he was finally given from Winnipeg within the NHL in exchange for Wayne McBean to the New York Islanders , where he had a regular place until the end of the season. In the 1994/95 season shortened due to a lockout , he came only to two more inserts in the NHL for the Islanders, while he spent the rest of the season with their farm team Denver Grizzlies in the International Hockey League . After the team was relocated, he played another two years for their successor team Utah Grizzlies. For the 1997/98 season , the left shooter returned to Europe, where he received a contract with Lukko Rauma from the Finnish SM-liiga . Most recently he was in the 1998/99 season for his ex-team Utah Grizzlies and the Grand Rapids Griffins in the IHL on the ice. He then ended his career at the age of 28.
International
For the Soviet Union , Kaminski took part in the U18 European Junior Championships in 1989 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 1990 and 1991 . For Russia he entered the 1993 World Cup .
