Sergei Anatolyevich Petrenko ( Russian Сергей Анатольевич Петренко , Ukrainian Сергій Анатолійович Петренко Serhiy Petrenko Anatolijowytsch * 10. September 1968 in Kharkiv , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Russian - Ukrainian hockey player .

Career

During his Soviet period he played for HK Dynamo Moscow . In the 1993 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the seventh round in 168th place by the Buffalo Sabers . In 1993 he moved to the Sabers in the National Hockey League . After only one season he moved back to Russia, then one season to Switzerland and then finally to Russia again in 1996. Here he played in the Russian league until the 2003/04 season .

In 1992 he became a member of the United Team after the collapse of the Soviet Union . His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics . In 1992 he was inducted into the " Russian Hockey Hall of Fame ".
