Mikhail Alexeyevich Schtalenkow ( Russian Михаил Алексеевич Шталенков * 20th October 1965 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player , who during his playing career, among others, for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , Edmonton Oilers , Phoenix Coyotes and Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League has played. Since June 2012 he has been an assistant trainer at HK Witjas .
Career
Shtalenkow was initially active for HK Dynamo Moscow , for whose professional team the goalkeeper made his debut in the 1986/87 season in the Wysschaja Liga . In his first season he was in 17 games for HK Dynamo Moscow between the posts and finished the game year in second place behind serial champions HK CSKA Moscow . Due to his convincing performance, with which the goalkeeper had made a decisive contribution to this success, he finally received the award as the best newcomer in the Wysschaja Liga at the end of the season . In the following three seasons he formed, as in his debut season, a goalkeeper duo with national goalkeeper Vladimir Myshkin .
In the 1993 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the fifth round in 108th position by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim . In 1993 he moved to the Californians in the National Hockey League . Other stations in his career in the NHL were Edmonton Oilers , Phoenix Coyotes and Florida Panthers . In the 1992/93 season he won the Garry F. Longman Memorial Trophy . For the 2000/01 season he moved back to Russia and played one more season for his old hometown club Dynamo Moscow.
International
On December 7, 1990 Shtalenkow was appointed to the team of the Soviet national team for the first time . After the collapse of the Soviet Union , he was first a member of the United Team and then the Russian national team . His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics and a silver medal in 1998 . In 1992 he was inducted into the " Russian Hockey Hall of Fame ".
At the Summit Series 2007 he was the goalkeeping coach of the Russian U20 team. Between 2012 and 2017 he worked as an assistant coach and goalkeeping coach at Vitjas Chekhov .
