history

Early start-up phase

The foundation stone of the company was laid in 1868 with the establishment of a repair shop for the manufacture of full and splitting frame saws. This company was acquired by Carl and Katharina Dänner on January 24, 1891 and renamed Carl Dänner Maschinenfabrik. After the death of Carl Dänner, the widow Katharina Dänner sold the company in equal parts to her daughter Therese and her husband Andreas Scheubeck, a mechanic experienced in the repair of woodworking machines. On April 23, 1901, the company's name was finally changed to Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen Andreas Scheubeck. The First World War interrupted the company's positive development and production had to be switched to bicycle parts, fittings, window frames for railroad cars and ships. They even began to be involved in the construction of airplanes. The driving forces were the two sons Oskar and Richard Scheubeck, but there were no major successes. In this situation one came into contact with the engineer Dr. Bernhard Jansen, who moved from Hanover in 1928 to Regensburg as technical director of the Upper Palatinate Works. He was looking for a company in Regensburg that could manufacture high quality gears that he needed to build prototypes of the high-speed resistance switch he had invented. Oskar Scheubeck accepted the order and quickly delivered the gears in the desired quality.

Patenting of the high-speed resistance switch and the collaboration between Scheubeck and Jansen

The basis of all rapid resistance switches manufactured worldwide today is that of Dr. Bernhard Jansen applied for a patent on July 13, 1926, but was not published until April 6, 1929 for uninterrupted switching under load by two circuit breakers moving in opposite directions with pre-contacts. At the same time as the publication of his basic patents, Jansen was also able to deliver the necessary prototypes. As a member of the board of the Oberpfalzwerke, based in Regensburg, he was able to place the orders for the production of switch prototypes with the Scheubeck brothers' company on site. The company founder Andreas Scheubeck died during the Second World War. After the war, the economic situation in Germany developed difficult, but the company was initially busy with simple repairs and the production of mechanical devices.

Then Jansen offered the Scheubeck brothers' company to take over the production of tap changers for the German transformer factories. On December 28, 1951, the written license agreement was concluded with Jansen. With this agreement and the accession of the daughter Magdalena Jansen 3 years later, Gebr. Scheubeck KG became the first and only licensee independent of transformer construction. In the following years Jansen (1958) and Richard Scheubeck (1961) died. In the following, Oskar Scheubeck and his son Egon Scheubeck redesigned the company in terms of technology and shareholder structure. In 1988 capital and management were separated. Industrial activities have been bundled in Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH since 1988.

Unrest in the early 1970s

In the early 1970s, the socialist company group in Regensburg or, in its successor, the workers' union for the reconstruction of the KPD attempted to gain a foothold among the workforce by addressing concerns of the workforce by means of company agitation papers.

Production based on in-house innovation and establishment of foreign subsidiaries

After the unexpected death of Jansen, MR took on the task of further technical development of the high-speed resistance switch itself. In view of the already very high export share and special growth prospects for individual foreign markets, the establishment of subsidiaries became an active strategic element. It all started in 1980 with MR do Brasil. Australia followed eight years later, followed by Reinhausen Manufacturing (USA). In 1993, the service agency was taken over in the important European market of Italy, which has since been trading as Reinhausen Italia. Further milestones on the way to becoming a globally active company were the establishment of two joint venture companies in China (Guangdong MR) and India (Easun-MR) in 1996. Reinhausen Asia-Pacific was founded in Malaysia in 1997.

In 1989 the opportunity arose to take over the tap changer production from Siemens, one of the largest and most traditional competitors, in return for a minority stake and at the same time ensuring the company's independence. As early as 1997, MR had taken over an engineering office in Erfurt specializing in reactive power compensation from Siemens , which has since been expanded into the Power Quality Management (PQM) business area. In 1999 Messko Albert Hauser GmbH & Co. KG, a traditional manufacturer of measuring devices for transformers, was acquired.

Reinhausen Plasma GmbH

Reinhausen Service GmbH was founded in 2002, which was renamed Reinhausen Plasma GmbH (RP) in March 2004 and is 100% owned by MR. With the opening of its own office in 2005, RP is dedicated to the development of new application possibilities in the field of plasma technology.

Divided into the three business areas Plasma Coating, Plasma Systems and Consumer Applications, RP offers cold-active plasma systems for industrial surface coating, pre-treatment, activation and cleaning of surfaces as well as the use of plasma modules for odor neutralization and disinfection.

The market launch of the plasmadust process began at the end of 2009; 2- and 3-dimensional components made of almost all materials can be directly coated and metallized without solvents. In 2014, the Reinhausen Plasma GmbH was under a management buy-outs in the Relyon plasma transferred GmbH. The focus is on atmospheric plasma technology.

Highvolt Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH

The origins of Highvolt Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH go back to the establishment of the company "Special Factory for Scientific Apparatus and Instruments" (later Koch & Sterzel ) by Franz Joseph Koch and Karl August Sterzel in 1904. Based on several patents for the construction of oil-paper-insulated high-voltage windings, a company was created that supplied high-voltage transformers, converters and transformers for X-ray machines. 1945 saw the nationalization of Koch & Sterzel AG in the VEB Transformatoren- und Röntgenwerk Dresden (TuR) After the acquisition of TuR by Siemens AG, high-voltage testing technology was spun off under the name Highvolt Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH and entry in the commercial register in 1995 In 2002, Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen took over 75% of the shares in Highvolt Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH and increased them to 100% at the beginning of 2003. The takeover enabled Highvolt to expand into the international market. In 2016, Highvolt Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH was awarded the TOP 100 seal as one of the most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany.

JE PlasmaConsult GmbH

JE PlasmaConsult GmbH was founded in 1993 as a spin-off of the Research Center for Microstructure Technology (fmt) of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal with the aim of providing plasma technology as a process for industrial surface treatment. Key components for this are (low-pressure) plasma systems and sources of different construction principles as well as plasma diagnostic systems such as Langmuir probes and microwave interferometers . Other business areas are contract coating and process development in the field of plasma technology. Since September 2006, JE PlasmaConsult GmbH has been a subsidiary of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen.

Reinhausen Power Composites GmbH

Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen has been producing insulating tubes made of glass fiber reinforced plastic for several decades , initially for their own on-load tap-changers. In the course of time, an increasing part of the pipes produced were delivered to external companies who used them, among other things, as insulating housings for high-voltage devices, as support pipes for electrical coils or as insulating shafts on rotating machines. Later on, MR itself started producing hollow composite insulators.

On August 1, 2009, the entire business area was spun off into an independent company, Reinhausen Power Composites GmbH. It is a 100% subsidiary of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen.
