Zoltán Adam Harcsa (* 20th November 1992 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian boxer in the middleweight division.

Boxing career

He was the Hungarian Schoolmaster in 2007, Hungarian Junior Champion in 2008, Hungarian Junior Champion in 2009, and Hungarian Champion in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2013 he was only defeated in the final against Balázs Bácskai and became runner-up.

His first internationally significant success came in 2008 at the European Junior Championships in Plovdiv . With victories against Eret Rexha from Albania, Gleb Sapowal from Moldova and Deimantas Mickevicius from Lithuania, he had advanced to the final, where he was finally defeated by the Russian Magomed Patijew. He won another silver medal in 2009 at the European Youth Championships in Szczecin . With victories against Adrijan Knežević from Croatia, Wladislaw Woitaljuk from Ukraine and Murad Agamalijew from Azerbaijan, he was again in the final, where he was defeated this time by the German Tyron witness .

In 2010 he took part in the World Youth Championships in Baku and won a bronze medal. He was only eliminated in the semifinals against the Australian Damien Hooper , having previously defeated the Belarusian Andrei Laurusik, the French Farhad Saad and the Azerbaijani Watan Huseinli. So he was also qualified for the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore , where he was also able to win a bronze medal. Due to the limited number of participants, he was right in the semi-finals after his victory against the Kazakhs Adilet Rachischew, where he lost again to Damien Hooper.

At the 2011 European Championships in Ankara , he was less lucky; Although he won his preliminary round match against Poland's Tomasz Jabłoński , but suffered an injury and therefore had to get out without a fight in the second round. For this he started at the World Championships of the same year in Baku, where he was able to prevail after a bye in the first preliminary round against José Bernal from El Salvador and Michel Tavares from France. In the subsequent round of 16, however, he was defeated by the Ukrainian Jewhen Chytrow .

In 2012 he took part in the Summer Olympics in London , where he defeated José Espinosa from Venezuela and Mujandjae Kasuto from Namibia before being eliminated in the quarter-finals against Esquiva Falcão from Brazil.

At the 2013 European Championships in Minsk , he went straight to the second round after a bye in the preliminary round. After a victory against the Armenian Arman Howikjan he reached the quarterfinals, where he was able to prevail against the Serbian Aleksandar Drenovak and moved into the semifinals. There he was eliminated from the Romanian Bogdan Juratoni and ended up in third place.

In October 2013 he started middleweight at the World Championships in Almaty . After a bye in the first preliminary round, a points win in the second preliminary round against Nick Abaka from Kenya and another points win in the round of 16 against Brody Blair from Canada, he moved into the quarterfinals, where he was eliminated from Jason Quigley from Ireland.

He won a bronze medal at the 2015 European Games in Baku. At the 2015 World Championships in Doha, he lost to Vikas Krishan in the preliminary round .

In April 2016 he qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . He defeated the starters from Denmark, Armenia, Ukraine and Germany in the European eliminations in Samsun . In the games itself he beat Asisbek Achilow, but lost in the round of 16 against Arlen López .

At the 2017 European Championships in Kharkiv , he defeated Birol Aygün and Andrej Csemez before being eliminated in the semi-finals with a bronze medal against Kamran Şahsuvarlı . He was thus qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg , where he was eliminated in the first fight against Salvatore Cavallaro .

At the European Games in 2019 , he defeated the Belgian Ruben Veciunca, but lost in the second fight against Miguel Cuadrado from Spain.
