The Teplice trolleybus is the trolleybus system of the Czech spa town of Teplice . The responsible transport company has been Dopravní Podnik Teplice sro (meanwhile Veolia Transport Teplice, sro ; now Arriva Teplice sro ) since the 1990s . This company also operates urban bus services .

It is the only trolleybus network operated by Arriva .

history

opening

In the 1950s, as in other cities of the former Czechoslovakia , the tram was abandoned in Teplice . The first electric tram service in the Czech Republic, which connected Teplice with Dubí at the time , was to be replaced by trolleybus traffic. During this time, there were many attempts to maintain tram traffic, but they were not realized.

The first part of the trolleybus route was opened on May 1, 1952. At that time the closure of the tram network was not expected; on the contrary, a parallel operation of both systems was planned. Around 1954 it became clear that the conception of the first ring line was a major disadvantage of the new system and despite some attempts to keep both modes of transport, tram traffic was terminated.

1960s and 1970s

In 1962 the network was expanded. The operating route to the depot was extended to Novosedlice , and a year later the section through Újezdeček was re-routed. The last new line was the section from Červený kostel to the ČSAD station in Trnovany , which was opened in 1967. The time of acceptance followed and this newly opened line was given up in 1978.

1980s

The “renaissance” of electric traction at the end of the 1970s also led to a further expansion of the trolleybus network in Teplice. In 1984 the new line from Městské sály to Zemská Street was built, in March 1987 the line from Červený kostel to the ČSAD station in Trnovany was renewed and further extended through Modlanská Street to the Somet factory . At the end of August 1987, a branch to the new Anger prefabricated housing estate was opened.

Major changes resulted from the lignite mining in the north of the city. Several districts of Teplice and the center of Dubí were to be demolished. In return, the prefabricated housing estates Nová Ves and Prosetice were built . The trolleybus depot should also be relocated. However, lignite mining was not carried out. This year the new route between Pražská Street and the prefabricated housing estate Prosetice was opened.

1990s

In the east of the city, construction continued. In 1990 the section from Somet to the terminus at Sochorova Street was put into operation, and in 1991 the network was extended by a section outside the city from the Central Station through Jateční Street to the hospital. This part enables a diversion if the main route to Řetenice is not passable. In 1993, the traffic at the junction from Pražská Street to Šanov was abandoned, but traffic was resumed a year later.

This year there were seven trolleybus routes in Teplice.

In 1995 the line from the depot to Novosedlice was closed , and three years later the contact wires were also dismantled.

In 1996 a new route to Třešňovka and the Nová Ves prefabricated housing estate was completed, and in 1997 a route from Sochorova Street to the Panorama prefabricated housing estate was completed and at the same time connected to the main line on Masarykova Street by Šrámkova Street .

vehicles

The trolleybus operation in Teplice was opened with trolleybuses of the type Škoda 7Tr. Over time, other types from Škoda followed : 8Tr and 9Tr . The growing number of Škoda 14Tr and Škoda 15Tr cars (which were originally intended to run between České Budějovice and the Temelín nuclear power plant ) enabled the 9Tr to be gradually phased out in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The last of them, a 9TrHT with the road number 105, was removed from the regular stock in 1993, but remained as a museum car and now serves the summer route 11.

New low-floor buses of the types Škoda 24Tr Irisbus, Škoda 25Tr Irisbus, Škoda 26Tr Solaris, Škoda 28Tr Solaris and SOR TN 12 were delivered. In October 2012 the following 37 wagons were in regular operation:
