Škoda 8Tr

The Škoda 8Tr is an earlier type of Czechoslovak trolleybus made by the manufacturer Škoda from Plzeň .
It is the successor to the similar looking Škoda 7Tr and the predecessor of the Škoda 9Tr . The abbreviation Tr stands for the Czech name Transkription von Trolleybus ( Trolejbus ). A first prototype was completed in 1955.
Technical specifications
The vehicles are 10.7 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, 3.3 meters high and weigh ten tons. A total of 78 people can be transported in 19 seats and 59 standing places. The electric motor has an output of 110 to 120 kW and is designed for a top speed of 50 km / h.
742 type 8Tr trolleybuses were built between 1955 and 1961, some of which Škoda exported to China , the Soviet Union , the GDR , Poland and the Ukraine .
Historic vehicles
Restored vehicles can still be found in the Brno Technical Museum as well as in Ostrava , Pardubice , Prague and Kiev .
