history

Malý Újezd was first mentioned in 1198 during the establishment of the Benedictine monastery Teplice . In 1398 the place was part of the Riesenburg rule . Malý Újezd later belonged to the Libčeves and Duchcov domains . In 1766 the Counts Clary-Aldringen acquired the village and attached it to the Teplice rulership. In 1830 181 people lived in Klein Augezd.

After the abolition of patrimonial, Klein Augezd and Hundorf / Hudcov became part of the municipality of Settenz / Řetenice in the Töplitz district in 1849. In the second half of the 19th century, with the beginning of industrialization and lignite mining, the character of the place changed. In 1880 three mines were operated in Klein Augezd, the Grubenfeld company, the Glückzeche and the Antonie Franziska Schacht. This expanded the place to settle miners and glassmakers. An industrial area was created between Klein Augezd and Settenz along the railway from Aussig to Komotau . Besides the Sophienhütte there were other glassworks. The Fischmannsche Hütte produced bottle and jewelery glass; Sheet glass was made in the Ascherlhütte. To the northeast, on the railway from Bodenbach to Komotau , the Waldthor glassworks was operated. The Ascherlhütte was shut down in the 1920s, and a decade later the Sophienhütte closed due to the global economic crisis. Most of the residents were German, and there was also a Czech minority in the village. After the Munich Agreement , it was incorporated into the German Reich in 1938. In 1939, 2,040 people lived in the municipality in the Teplitz-Schönau district . In 1942, a labor camp for Soviet prisoners of war and other internees from the Soviet Union was set up in the Waldthor glassworks of the Josef Inwald AG company, which was directly subordinate to the Reich Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia .

After the Second World War , the German population was expelled and Czechs from Inner Bohemia were settled. In 1948, at the same time as the incorporation into Teplice, the place name Malý Újezd was changed to Újezdeček . 1954 the plans for "Groß Teplice" were given up and the place got its independence back.
