history
After the establishment of the Benedictine monastery of Teplice between 1156 and 1164 by Vladislav II and Judith von Thuringia , the Bohemian royal couple, the village of Probosstow was first mentioned in 1350 . The provost of the Benedictine monastery Postoloprty , who also performed the priestly duties, was in charge of the monastic properties of the nunnery . The name of the place is derived from this.
During the Hussite Wars , the monastery became extinct and its goods came to secular owners. Vladislav II bequeathed the monastic rule of Teplice on December 31, 1512 to Jan and Bernard von Waldstein . The German population that lived in the area converted to the Protestant denomination at this time. During the Thirty Years War, the Swedes and the Imperial forces invaded Probosstow and devastated the place. From the middle of the 17th century Probstau only had German residents and around 1700 consisted of 11 farms. The residents made their living by raising cattle and growing fruit and wine.
The character of the village changed under the Count Clary-Aldringen . The large pheasantry of the Teplitz estate and the Probsteier pond were redesigned in the 18th century to an English landscape garden, which was popular with Teplitz bathers around 1800.
After the abolition of patrimonial Probstau became an independent municipality in the Töplitz district in 1850. In 1858 the railway from Teplitz to Aussig , which was built by the Aussig-Teplitz Railway and ran through the park, started operating. The Richard lignite mine opened in 1860, and the Britannia I and II mines were also opened. In the course of industrialization, the Urbach porcelain and ceramics factory, the Mühlstein tannery and the Favoritwerke metal goods manufacturer were established. With the settlement of miners and factory workers, a Czech minority formed in Probstau, and many Czechs moved here, especially from Trnovany. In 1870 Probstau was incorporated into Weißkirchlitz together with Judendorf and Wistritz. In 1884 a railway station was built on the grounds of the landscape park. Probstau was extended to the south, between the train station and the original village, houses for the workers were built on the park area. In the 1880s, the ideas of social democracy spread among workers.
After the reconstruction of the chapel, quarterly masses were held in Probstau from 1881 onwards by the pastor of Weißkirchlitz . At the beginning of the 20th century Probstau had grown into an industrial village. In 1902 the village broke away from Weißkirchlitz and formed its own community. After the proclamation of Czechoslovakia on October 28, 1918, there was friction between Czechs and Germans over the decoration of the village. In the municipal council, the Czech and German Social Democrats dominated, with parliamentary groups of roughly equal strength. After the Munich Agreement , the annexation to the German Reich took place in 1938 and parts of the Czech population were expelled into the interior of the country. In 1939, 3,098 people lived in the municipality in the Teplitz-Schönau district . After the Second World War, until 1946, the German population was expelled and the Czechs settled. In 1948 it was incorporated into Teplice. 1954 the plans for "Groß Teplice" were given up and the place got its independence back. 1960 came Přítkov as a district to Proboštov.
