Žalany (German Schallan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located seven kilometers southeast of the city center of Teplice and belongs to the Okres Teplice .
geography
Žalany is located on the right side of the Bílina on Žalanský potok on the northwestern edge of the Bohemian Central Mountains . To the north rises the 273 m high Chotyně with the desert fortified castle Paradies, in the south lies the Milešovka (836 m). State road 8 / E 55 leads through the village .
Neighboring towns are Rtyně nad Bílinou in the north, Vrahožily and Řehlovice in the northeast, Habrovany in the east, Žim and Bořislav in the southeast, Lelov in the south, Bukovice and Kostomlaty pod Milešovkou in the southwest, Bžany in the west and Hradiště and Velvěty in the northwest.

The community Žalany consists of the districts Černčice ( Tschentschitz ), Lelov ( Lellowa ) and Žalany ( Schallan ). The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Černčice u Žalan and Žalany.
