Andrej Csemez (* 6. May 1998 in Dolné Saliby ) is a Slovakian boxer in the middleweight division .
successes
Andrej Csemez won a bronze welterweight medal at the European Youth Championships in Russia in 2016 .
At the 2017 European Championships in Ukraine , he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Zoltán Harcsa and thus qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Germany , where he was defeated in the round of 16 against eventual world champion Oleksandr Chyschnjak .
In 2018 he won the middleweight gold medal at the EU Championships in Spain , the first victory by a Slovak boxer in the tournament. He had defeated Muhammad Abdilrasoon from Finland (5-0), Bengoro Bamba from France (5-0), Victor Corobcevschii from Moldova (5-0) and in the final the Englishman Carl Fail (5-0).
At the European Games in Minsk in 2019 , he won a bronze medal after only being eliminated in the semi-finals against world champion Oleksandr Chysnjak . At the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg , he was eliminated before reaching the medal ranks against Arman Darchinyan, having previously defeated Serhat Güler.
