Jerkebulan Schynalijew ( Kazakh Еркебұлан Шыналиев ; born October 7, 1987 in Aul Karabastau near Schymkent , Kazakh SSR , USSR ) is a Kazakh boxer . Shynaliyev was bronze medalist at the 2007 World Championships and the 2008 Olympic Games .

Career

In the junior division (U19) Schynalijew won the silver medal of the Junior World Championships in the light heavyweight division (-81 kg).

At the 2007 World Championships , Schynalijew reached after victories over Evgeni Chernovol, Moldova (28:10), Dschachan Kurbanow , Tajikistan (DQ 4th), Zhang Xiaoping , China (14: 5), and Tony Jeffries , England (20: 9), the semifinals, which he lost against Abbos Atoyev , Uzbekistan (17: 8), and thus won the bronze medal. He achieved the same placement at the 2008 Olympic Games . He won in the preliminary round against Daugirdas Šemiotas , Lithuania (11: 3), in the round of 16 against Carlos Negron, Puerto Rico (9: 3), and in the quarter-finals against Dschachan Kurbanow (DQ 3rd), and lost to Zhang Xiaoping in the semi-finals (+4: 4).

After this success, Schynaliev's career flattened out. At the President Cup 2009 in Baku he was eliminated in the preliminary round against Abdelkader Bouhenia , France (9: 5) and in 2010 he did not take part in the Kazakh championships. At the Kazakh Championships in 2011 Schynalijew entered the heavyweight division (-91 kg), but was eliminated in the preliminary round.
