The province of Buxoro ( Uzbek Buxoro viloyati ), German province of Bukhara , is a province of Uzbekistan . It has about 1,843,500 inhabitants (as of 2017) and an area of 39,400 km² . About two thirds of the province's population live in the villages.

The capital of the province is Buxoro (German: Bukhara ). Administratively, the province is divided into 11 districts and the three independent cities of Buxoro, Gʻijduvon and Kogon .

geography
The province of Buxoro is largely located in the Kyzylkum desert and is characterized by an arid, continental climate . It borders the Uzbek provinces of Navoiy , Qashqadaryo , Xorazm , the autonomous republic of Karakalpakstan and the Turkmen region of Lebap .
In the province of Buxoro there are large natural gas deposits (in Gazli ), oil deposits , graphite deposits and bentonite deposits . The dominant industries are petroleum refining and the textile industry .
