Gʻijduvon , also Gischduwan ( Cyrillic Ғиждувон; Russian Гиждуван Gischduwan ), is a city in the Uzbek province of Bukhara , located about 40 km north-northeast of the provincial capital Bukhara . According to the 1989 census, the city had 30,500 inhabitants, according to a calculation for 2010 the population is 44,289. Gʻijduvon is an independent city and at the same time the capital of the district of the same name Gʻijduvon .
One of the three madāris that Ulugh Beg had built is in Gʻijduvon. It was built between 1432 and 1433 and was mainly used as a chanakah . Gʻijduvon was the birthplace of the Sufi order founder Abdulhalik Gijduvani.
Gʻijduvon was promoted to city in 1972.
