Hasanboy Doʻsmatov (born June 24, 1993 in Andijon ) is an Uzbek boxer and 2016 Olympic champion in light flyweight (-49 kg). He is 1.59 m tall and southpaw .

Amateur career

Hasanboy Doʻsmatov attended Andijon University and started boxing in 2004 at the age of eleven. The Uzbek has been fighting in the elite class at international level since 2012 and won the 2013 Summer Universiade in Russia and the 2015 Chemistry Cup in Germany . He also won tournaments in Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, where his victories over Kim In-kyu , Bator Sagalujew , Birschan Schaqypow , Ferhat Pehlivan and Scholars Mart Yerzhan reach.

For 2016 he was named "Boxer of the Year" by AIBA .

Asian Championships

While he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Mark Barriga at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon , he was able to fight for the gold medal at the 2015 Asian Championships in Bangkok ; he beat Rogen Ladon in the final . He also won the gold medal at the 2017 Asian Championships in Tashkent by beating Gankhuyagiin Gan-Erdene in the final. In the semifinals he had defeated Amit Panghal .

At the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018 , he won the silver medal after losing 3-2 in the final against Amit Panghal.

World championships

At the 2013 World Championships in Almaty , he was eliminated in the second fight against Birschan Schaqypow , while at the 2015 World Championships in Doha he was defeated in the first duel against Rüfət Hüseynov . At the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg he made it into the medal ranks for the first time when he made it into the final against Robinson Rodriguez (5: 0), Amit Panghal (5: 0) and Yuberjen Martínez (5: 0), where he narrowly scored 2: 3 lost against Joahnys Argilagos and became vice world champion.

World Series of Boxing

Most recently he took part in the Asian Olympic qualification tournament in Qian'an and won all four fights, where he was able to defeat Rogen Ladon again in the final.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, after a preliminary round, he won against the Mexican Joselito Velásquez (3-0) in the round of 16 , in the quarter-finals against Birschan Schaqypow (3-0) and in the semifinals against the American Nico Hernández (3: 0) . 0). In the final fight, he beat the Colombian Yuberjen Martínez (3-0). He was also awarded the Val Barker Cup by an AIBA committee as the best boxer of all games.

Professional career

He won his professional debut on November 16, 2019 in Mexico by knocking out Jesus Villanueva in the second round.
