Architecture and history

The two-story building was built in the 17th century as a municipal mansion. In the 19th century it was rebuilt and redesigned in the style of classicism . The representatively designed facade has large windows and Ionic pilasters . The portal is crowned with a gable and flanked by round arches. In addition, a family coat of arms can be seen on the house. At the side there is a portal that was originally intended for the entry of carriages and that leads to the patio .

The painter and sculptor Aina Maria Lliteras was born in the house. In 2002 she founded an artistic school center in the building. An international art competition takes place here every year.

In the entrance hall there is a permanent exhibition of Llitera's paintings. The kitchen serves as a showroom for historical kitchen appliances. Some of the rooms are designed in the Art Deco style. An Empire-style staircase leads to the upper floor . Above the stairs is a 32 m² ceiling painting by Lliteras with the name Gir constant entorn del tot, created in 2007 . On the upper floor is the dance hall, the floor of which is occupied by a Valencian mosaic. Pictures by Mallorcan and Spanish artists of the 17th and 18th centuries are on view in the hall. The pink room, the Solomonic room, the green room, the Elizabethan room and the Alfonsine room are also on this floor. One can also see Gebärstühle , a historic dressing table and an altarpiece from the 17th century. The exhibitions take up an area of 900 m².
