Ferhat Pehlivan (* 20th August 1988 in Akçaabat , Turkey ) is a former Turkish boxer in the flyweight .
Boxing career
Pehlivan was 1.68 m tall during his competitive career and trained in the clubs Akçaabat Trabzon Karnet SK and Fenerbahçe SK . One of his trainers was Altar Kalkışım. In 2006 he won the gold medal at the EU Junior Championships in Rome and took part in the 2007 World Championships in Chicago , where he was eliminated in the preliminary round against Łukasz Maszczyk .
In 2008 he won bronze medals at the World University Championships in Kazan and the European Championships in Liverpool . He also managed to win against Sergei Kazakow .
In 2009 he also won bronze at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara , was eliminated in the second preliminary round of the World Championships in Milan against Dawid Airapetjan and won silver at the European Student Championships in Elista .
In 2010 he lost in the quarter-finals of the European Championships in Moscow with 1: 2 against Kelvin de la Nieve and won bronze at the World University Championships in Ulaanbaatar .
Also at the European Championships 2011 in Ankara he was defeated in the quarterfinals against Belik Galanow and was eliminated in the second preliminary round of the World Championships 2011 in Baku against Carlos Quipo .
In 2012 he won the European Olympic qualification in Trabzon , defeating Denis Shkarubo, Hamza Touba , Paddy Barnes and Alexandar Alexandrow . He then took part in the 2012 Olympic Games in London and reached the quarter-finals with victories against Carlos Suárez and Ramy El-Awadi, in which he lost to Dawid Airapetjan. He won silver at the World University Championships in Baku in 2012.
In 2013 he won the silver medal at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin . At the 2015 European Games in Baku he lost 2-1 to Vincenzo Picardi in the quarter-finals and 2-1 to Nándor Csóka at the 2015 European Championships in Samokow .
Pehlivan also won the Ahmet Cömert Tournament in 2008 and 2009, as well as the Feliks Stamm Tournament in 2011. In 2016, he boxed for the Turkish team Turkiye Conquerors in the World Series of Boxing .
After his competitive career, he worked as a physical education teacher in the province of Rize .
