Joahnys Oscar Perez Argilagos (* 11. January 1997 in Camagüey ) is a Cuban boxers in the light flyweight .

Career

Argilagos is around 1.60 m tall, comes from Camagüey and started boxing in 2007. At the U17 World Championships in 2013 in Kiev , he became world champion. In 2014 he won the Cuban Youth Championships with four wins and the silver medal at the Pavlyukov Youth Tournament in Russia . He was eliminated in the final fight with 1: 2 against Brendan Irvine . In 2015 he competed for the Cuban team in the World Series of Boxing and won six out of nine fights.

In 2015 Argilagos won after a final defeat against Joselito Velásquez , Mexico (3-0), the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Toronto and the gold medal at the Pan American Championships in Venezuela , this time beating Velásquez (3-0).

In October 2015 he started as the youngest Cuban boxer at the world championships in Qatar . After winning over Samuel Carmona , Spain (3: 0), Brendan Irvine , Ireland (3: 0) and Dmytro Samotajew , Ukraine (3: 0), he reached the final, in which he won Vasily Jegorow , Russia (3: 0) , defeated. With this success, Argilagos also qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games . There he beat the Englishman Galal Yafai (2: 1) and the Kenyan Peter Mungai (3: 0) before he was eliminated with a bronze medal in the semi-final match against the Colombian Yuberjen Martínez (1: 2).

He won the silver medal at the 2017 Pan American Championships . At the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg , he won his second World Cup gold medal with a final victory against Hasanboy Doʻsmatov .
