Samuel Carmona Heredia (* 28. May 1996 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ) is a Spanish boxer in the light flyweight (-49 kg) and Olympian 2016th

Amateur career

The 1.62 m tall left boom began boxing in 2008 and is nicknamed "El Infierno" (German meaning; "The Inferno"). He is Spanish champion in 2014 and 2015, as well as quarter-finalist of the 2015 European Championships and round of 16 of the 2015 World Championships . In February 2016, he defeated European and vice world champion Vasily Yegorov at a tournament in Bulgaria .

In June 2016 he took part in the worldwide Olympic qualification tournament in Baku , where he fought his way to the final against the Kyrgyz Turat Osmonow, the third place in the World Cup Dmytro Samotajew and the Indian Devendro Singh and thus qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games . At the games in Rio de Janeiro he won his preliminary round match against Artur Hovhannisyan from Armenia. This was also the first Spanish victory in an Olympic boxing match since 2000. At the 2017 European Championships in Kharkiv , he won a bronze medal after being knocked out 2: 3 in the semifinals against Galal Yafai . He had previously defeated Tinko Banabakow (5-0) and Federico Serra (5-0).
