Yuberjen Herney Martínez (* 1. November 1991 in Turbo , Colombia ) is a Colombian boxer in the flyweight .

successes

Martínez is bronze medalist at the 2013 Pan American Championships in Chile and silver medalist at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Mexico . In March 2016 he won the American Olympic qualification in Argentina , defeating Todd Napper from Canada, Carlos Quipo from Ecuador, Victor Santillan from the Dominican Republic and Nico Hernández from the USA. He qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil .

At the Olympic Games, he defeated the Brazilian home favorite Patrick Lourenço (3-0) in the preliminary round, the Philippine World Cup third Rogen Ladon ( 3-0) in the round of 16 , the Spanish underdog Samuel Carmona (2-1 ) in the quarter-finals and in the semifinals the reigning world champion from Cuba Joahnys Argilagos (2: 1). He was the first Colombian boxer in sporting history to take part in an Olympic final, which he lost to Uzbek Hasanboy Doʻsmatov (0: 3).

He won the gold medal at the 2017 Pan American Championships in Honduras . He was qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg , where he reached the semifinals against Galal Yafai (5: 0) and Gankhuyagiin Gan-Erdene (5: 0) and was eliminated from Hasanboy Doʻsmatov with a bronze medal (0: 5).

2018 he won the South American Games in Bolivia and the Central American and Caribbean Games in Colombia. He defeated Isaac Herrera, Brian Fernandez, Leandro Blanc , Oscar Collazo , Yoali Mejía and Mario Lavegal. He won the silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru and also took part in the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg , where he was eliminated from Saken Bibossinov before reaching the medal ranks.
