At the Olympic Games in Beijing Schaqypow reached after victories over Pál Bedák , ( Hungary ), and the Armenian Howhannes Danieljan the quarter-finals, in which he was eliminated again against Zhou Shiming and finished 5th.

At the Asian Games in 2009, Schaqypow was eliminated in the first fight against the Mongols Njambajaryn Tögstsogt and did not take part in the world championships. After this bad year he was able to take off again in 2010 and made it to the finals of the Asian Championships, where he lost again to Zhou Shiming. Even so, the silver medal was a great success. At the World Championships in the following year he was eliminated in the first fight against the Cuban Yosvany Veitía and therefore had to take the detour again via the continental qualification for the Olympic Games . In this, Schaqypow took first place and was able to take part in the Olympic Games for the second time in his career. In London , Schaqypow reached the quarter-finals after narrow victories over Jérémy Beccu ( France ) and Mark Anthony Barriga ( Philippines ), in which he was eliminated again against Zhou Shiming and finished in 5th place.
