Pürewdordschiin Serdamba ( Mongolian Пүрэвдоржийн Сэрдамба ; born April 18, 1985 in Ulaanbaatar ) is a Mongolian boxer . Serdamba was Asian champion in 2007, world champion in 2009 , silver medalist at the 2008 Olympic Games and bronze medalist at the 2011 World Championships .

Career

Serdamba first made a name for himself when he won the silver medal in the light flyweight (-48 kg) at the prestigious international chemistry cup in Halle in 2006 . The following year he achieved his breakthrough by winning the Asian Championships and defeating world champion Zhou Shiming in the final with 12: 7. As the current Asian champion, he went to the 2007 World Boxing Championships in Chicago but had to admit defeat to the Russian David Hajrapetjan in the first fight . This was the beginning of a form crisis, because even at the 1st Asian qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games 2008 he could not prevail and lost in the quarterfinals. Only at the 2nd Asian qualifying tournament did he make it to the finals again. Since he was injured in the semi-finals, he had to give up in the final without a fight.
