Ronald Serugo

Ronald Serugo (born September 5, 1985 ) is a boxer from Uganda . He fights at light flyweight (up to 48 kg).

Career

Ronald Serugo, the Ugandan boxer who is 1.70 meters tall for a light flyweight and is very tall and trained by Lawrence Kalyango, reported the first result in 2007. This year he took part in the 9th All-African Championships in Algiers , but had to admit defeat in the round of 16 against Japhet Uutomi from Namibia on points (9:28) and finished in 9th place.

In 2008 he became the Ugandan light flyweight champion, defeating Joseph Kalema in the final battle. He then entered the second African qualifying tournament for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , which took place in Windhoek . There he won his first fight against the Zambian Tresford Kaziwa on points (11: 3). In the following semi-final fight he lost clearly against the Moroccan Redouane Bouchtouk (0:11). In an additional fight for third place, he won against the South African Lobogang Pilane and was the only boxer in his country to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games. In Beijing he was the standard bearer of his Ugandan team when he marched in and he met Pürewdordschiin Serdamba in the first round from Mongolia , who later won the Olympic silver medal. He delivered this one big fight, which he only lost with 5: 9 hits. However, he had to retire and took 17th place in the final statement.

In 2009 Ronald Serugo competed in the light flyweight championship in Milan . In his first fight there he defeated the English champion Tommy Stubbs clearly on points (11: 2), but was eliminated after a point defeat (3:17) in the round of 16 against the South Korean Shin Jong-hun and came in 9th place.

At the Ugandan championship 2010, where Ronald Serugo wanted to compete again in the light flyweight division, he was overweight and could not start. In 2011 he won the Ugandan light flyweight championship again, beating Umar Mutebi 3-2 in the final battle.
