Mark Anthony Barriga (born June 11, 1993 in Panabo City ) is a Filipino professional boxer and 2012 Olympic participant in the light flyweight division .

Amateur career

Barriga already took part in the 2010 World Youth Championships in Baku , defeating Zhang Liang, China (7: 3), Tanes Ongjunta, Thailand (15: 5) and Nikita Fedorschenko, Russia (3: 1), before beating only in the quarterfinals Ryan Burnett , Ireland (4-6) was eliminated in 5th place. At the 2011 World Championships in Baku he defeated Stefan Caslarov, Romania (12: 5) and Paddy Barnes , Ireland (20:12), but lost to Zhou Shiming , China (5:12) in the round of 16 .

By reaching the last sixteen at the World Cup, he automatically qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London . There he defeated Manuel Cappai , Italy (17: 7), but lost in the second fight against Birschan Schaqypow , Kazakhstan (16:17). Also at the 2013 World Championships in Almaty , he was eliminated in the second fight against Yosvany Veitía , Cuba (0: 3), after he had previously defeated Huỳnh Tân, Vietnam (3: 0).

In 2013 he won the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw with wins against Huỳnh Tân, Vietnam, Fuad Redzuan, Malaysia and Kornelis Wangu, Indonesia. In 2014 he won a bronze medal at the Asian Games in Incheon . With victories against Hussain Al Masri, Syria, Tosho Kashiwazaki, Japan and Hasanboy Doʻsmatov , Uzbekistan, he reached the semi-finals, where he lost to Shin Jong-hun , South Korea.

Professional career

Mark Anthony Barriga has been boxing in the professional camp since 2016.
