Mil- is a morpheme in various Indo-European languages. It is part of Slavic person and place names.

Origin and meaning

In the 14th century BC The Hittite city of Milawanda (later Milet) on the eastern Mediterranean was first mentioned in the 3rd century BC . In the 6th century BC The Greek athlete was called Milon and the vase painter Milonidas . In the 1st century there were the Roman first names Milo and Milonia .

In the 8th century there was Bishop Milo von Trier . In the 9th century Ludmilla of Bohemia and Miliduch and Milegast were mentioned among Slavic tribes in what is now Germany.

In the Slavic languages milo means lovely , lovely .
