Amit Panghal (* 16th October 1995 in Rohtak , India ) is an Indian boxer in the flyweight .

Career

The southpaw made his international debut in 2012 in an international match against Sri Lanka . In the following years, Devendro Singh was used in his weight class at major international events, but he was promoted to flyweight in 2016. Amit Panghal was then Indian champion in 2016 and started at the Asian Championships 2017 in Uzbekistan , where he won a bronze medal after a semi-final defeat against Hasanboy Doʻsmatov . He was qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Germany , where he defeated Federico Serra and Carlos Quipo. In the fight for a place in the medal ranks he was defeated in the quarterfinals again against Hasanboy Doʻsmatov.

At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia he was only defeated in the final against Galal Yafai and thus won the silver medal. He was then used at the Asian Games in Indonesia in 2018 , where this time he defeated Hasanboy Doʻsmatov in the final and achieved the gold medal.

He won another gold medal at the Asian Championships in Thailand in 2019 . He defeated again Hasanboy Doʻsmatov, as well as Hu Jianguan and Kim In-kyu . He then took part in flyweight at the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg and was the first Indian boxer to reach a World Cup final. In the fight for the gold medal he lost to the Olympic champion Shahobiddin Zoirov .
