Shahobiddin Zoirov , also Shakhobidin Zoirov (born March 3, 1993 in Kogon ) is an Uzbek boxer , Olympic champion in 2016 and world champion in flyweight 2019 (-52 kg).

Amateur career

Shahobiddin Zoirov took part in the 2011 World Championships in Azerbaijan , where he was eliminated in the third preliminary round against Jérémy Beccu . In 2012 he defeated the future European champion Vasily Yegorov at an international tournament and won the World Combat Games in Russia in 2013. In addition, after losing to Azat Usenaliev in the final, he won the silver medal at the 2013 Asian Championships in Jordan .

At the Asian Games in South Korea in 2014 , he also won silver after failing in the final against Ilyas Suleymenov . He also finished the 2015 Asian Championships in Thailand in second place when Olschas Sattibajew was eliminated in the final. At the 2015 World Championships in Qatar, he lost to Hu Jianguan in the round of 16 .

In 2016 he won the Asian Olympic qualification in China with wins against Mohamed Hamid (3: 0), Ryomei Tanaka (3: 0), Azat Usenaliev (3: 0) and Hu Jianguan (2: 1), making him eligible for the Olympic Games Qualified in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro . There he fought against Brendan Irvine (3: 0), Antonio Vargas (3: 0), Elvin Məmişzadə (3: 0) and Yoel Finol (3: 0) in the final, where he defeated Michail Alojan (3: 0) .

He won the gold medal at the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg , defeating Rodrigo Marte , Azat Usenaliev, Daniel Asenow , Billal Bennama and Amit Panghal , among others .
