Yoel Segundo Finol Rivas (born September 21, 1996 in El Vigía , Mérida ) is a Venezuelan boxer in the flyweight (-52 kg).

Amateur career

The 1.68 m tall southpaw began boxing in 2006 and took part in the 2014 Youth World Championships in Bulgaria , where he reached the quarter-finals.

In July 2015, he won a bronze medal at the American Games in Canada when he was eliminated in the semifinals against eventual world champion Joahnys Argilagos . In the quarterfinals he had defeated Yuberjen Martínez . The American Championships in Venezuela were even more successful in August , when he won the gold medal in victorious duels against Anthony Joseph, who later became Olympian Fernando Martínez, and World Cup medalists David Jiménez and Yosvany Veitía . He then started in October 2015 at the World Championships in Qatar , where he was eliminated in the round of 16 against Ceiber Ávila .

After losing the first fight against Leonel de los Santos in the American Olympic qualification in Argentina in March 2016 , he took part in the world qualification in Azerbaijan in June , where he also failed in the first fight against Antonio Vargas. His last attempt was therefore the Olympic qualification of the WSB and AIBA Pro Boxing in July in Venezuela. Finol won the tournament by beating Maksim Fatich and Hamza Touba , qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil . At the Olympics he beat Leonel de los Santos in the preliminary round, Muhammad Ali in the second round and Mohamed Flissi in the quarter-finals , before he was eliminated in the semifinals against Shahobiddin Zoirov with a bronze medal.

In 2018 he won the South American Games in Bolivia . At the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg , he was eliminated from Qairat Yeraliyev before reaching the medal ranks .

Professional career

He made his professional debut on July 6, 2019.
