Cheonchuksa is a Buddhist temple in Gyeonggi-do Province in South Korea and is located near the capital Seoul at the eastern foot of the Dobongsan . He is a member of the Jogye order.

history

Cheonchuksa Temple was built in 673 C.E. Currently built as an Okcheonam hermitage by a student of the monk Uisang . In the 12th century it was known as Yeongguksa, and in 1398 the temple was expanded and rebuilt. It eventually got its current name. The temple was renovated several times, first in 1474 under King Seongjong (성종) (1469–1494), then in 1812, 1931 and finally in 1936.
